Sheldon was a familiar and cherished figure throughout the province, known for his exceptional musicianship, warm personality, and lifelong dedication to preserving and celebrating Newfoundland and Labrador’s rich musical traditions. Over the years, he performed with well-known groups including The Concert Crowd and The Soirees, entertaining audiences at community events, festivals, kitchen parties, and cultural gatherings across the province.
For many, Sheldon represented the heart and soul of Newfoundland hospitality and music. Since 2017, he had been an integral part of Sullivan’s Songhouse in Calvert, where he performed alongside Sean Sullivan, welcoming visitors from around the world with stories, songs, and the unique spirit of Newfoundland culture.
One of the most memorable moments associated with Sheldon came in 2017 during the widely celebrated Pearson Airport kitchen party. Alongside Sean Sullivan, he helped transform a flight delay into an unforgettable musical gathering that showcased the warmth, resilience, and community spirit for which Newfoundland and Labrador are known.
