Remembering a Life Lost Too Soon

The community is mourning the loss of Cynthia Aziere of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, who died following a four-car crash in Overland Park on Friday evening, August 28, 2026.

According to Overland Park Police, the tragic collision occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. on westbound Interstate 435 near the U.S. 69 Highway interchange. Aziere was traveling westbound and attempting to exit I-435 toward the U.S. 69 Highway interchange when her vehicle crashed into a guardrail. The impact was followed by a multi-vehicle collision involving several other people.

Despite the circumstances surrounding the crash, the greatest loss was the life of Cynthia Aziere. Her passing has left a profound sense of sadness for those who knew and loved her, as well as for everyone touched by the tragedy.

Five other people involved in the crash were transported to local hospitals for further evaluation. Police reported that four of those individuals suffered suspected broken ribs. Three additional people were involved but were not injured.
