In Loving Memory of Keon Danion Kemp

With deep sadness, we remember Keon Danion Kemp, 42, of Emporia, Virginia, whose life was tragically lost following a pedestrian crash in the early morning hours of September 5, 2026.

At approximately 3:33 a.m., the Emporia Police Department responded to the intersection of South Main Street and Battery Avenue after receiving a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. The Greensville Volunteer Rescue Squad and Greensville Volunteer Fire Department also responded and provided emergency assistance.

Despite the response of emergency personnel, Mr. Kemp was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin has been notified.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under active investigation. The Virginia State Police is assisting the Emporia Police Department with crash reconstruction, while Sergeant Mark Howell is leading the investigation for the Emporia Police Department. Authorities have not released further details at this time.

Behind every tragic loss is a family and a circle of loved ones left to grieve. Keon was more than a name connected to an investigation. He was a person with a life, memories, relationships, and people who cared deeply for him. His sudden passing leaves an absence that words cannot easily express.

During this difficult time, our thoughts and deepest condolences go to Keon’s family, friends, and everyone affected by his passing. May they find strength in one another and comfort in the memories they shared with him.

May Keon Danion Kemp rest in peace. His life will be remembered, his memory cherished, and his presence forever missed. 🕯️🕊️
