In Loving Memory of Bradley Montero

Bradley Montero, 60, of Chico, California, will be remembered with love and deep sorrow following his tragic death in a fatal highway crash early Monday morning, August 31, 2026.

The loss of Bradley has left family members, friends, and members of the community grieving the sudden passing of a man whose life was meaningful to the people fortunate enough to know him. His death serves as a painful reminder of how quickly an ordinary journey can become a heartbreaking tragedy.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 3:18 a.m. on southbound Highway 99, north of Broyles Road, between the Nord and Vina areas north of Chico.

Bradley was driving a 2019 Nissan Altima northbound when, for reasons that remain unknown, the vehicle crossed the center median and entered the southbound lanes. The Nissan then collided head-on with a 2017 Kenworth truck tractor traveling in the opposite direction.

The impact left Bradley trapped inside his vehicle. Firefighters and other emergency personnel responded to the scene and worked to free him from the wreckage. After being extricated, Bradley was transported to Enloe Medical Center for medical treatment.

Despite the efforts of first responders and medical personnel, Bradley was pronounced dead at approximately 4:57 a.m.

The driver of the Kenworth was identified by CHP as 54-year-old Jose L. Estrada Loza of Anderson. He reported minor pain to his left side and was not arrested in connection with the crash.

Authorities have not determined why Bradley’s vehicle crossed the center median. The investigation remains ongoing as CHP works to establish the circumstances that led to the collision. At this time, investigators say alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to have contributed to the crash.

While the official investigation seeks answers, Bradley’s loved ones are left facing a much more personal reality—the absence of someone who mattered deeply in their lives.
