BAZETTA TOWNSHIP, OH — The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Warren Post is investigating a tragic motorcycle crash that claimed the life of Heather M. Robinson, 42, of Cortland, Ohio, early Friday morning, September 4.

According to authorities, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 4 a.m. on State Route 46 (Niles Cortland Road NE), near Cadwallader Sonk Road in Bazetta Township, Trumbull County. The incident brought emergency responders from the Bazetta Township Fire Department and EMS to the scene.

Preliminary information indicates that Robinson was traveling southbound on State Route 46 while operating a 2006 Suzuki GXR 1000. During the early-morning journey, two horses unexpectedly entered the roadway.

Robinson’s motorcycle struck one of the horses. The impact caused the motorcycle to leave the right side of the roadway and travel into a ditch. Robinson suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The two horses were subsequently returned to their enclosure. Authorities reported that one of the horses sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Officials said Robinson was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. They also stated that alcohol and drug impairment are not believed to have been factors in the collision.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Warren Post. Investigators will continue working to determine the events leading up to the collision and the circumstances that allowed the horses to enter the roadway.
