In Loving Memory of Eddie Lopez Jr.
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we remember 33-year-old Eddie Lopez Jr., whose life was tragically taken in Tucson late Monday, August 17.
According to the Tucson Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2000 block of South Sahuara, near the area of 29th Street and Craycroft Road. When officers arrived, they discovered Eddie suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the circumstances surrounding the incident, one thing remains painfully clear: a life was lost, and a family, a circle of friends, and a community are now left to grieve.
Eddie’s death is a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly life can change. At just 33 years old, he had so much life ahead of him—more memories to make, more moments to share, and more time to spend with the people who cared about him. No family should have to receive the devastating news that their loved one will not be coming home.
As loved ones mourn Eddie, it is important to remember that behind every tragic headline is a real person with a story, relationships, dreams, and people who loved him. Eddie was more than the circumstances of his death. He was someone’s son, someone’s friend, someone’s family, and a person whose presence mattered to those who knew him.
The Tucson Police Department has secured the area and spoken with potential witnesses as detectives work to understand what happened. Authorities are asking anyone who may have information about the shooting to come forward. Information can be provided anonymously through 88-CRIME.
For those who knew Eddie, the days ahead may bring difficult emotions, unanswered questions, and memories that are difficult to process. In times like these, remembering a person for the life they lived—not simply the way their life ended—can be an important part of honoring their memory.
May Eddie Lopez Jr. be remembered for the moments that brought joy, the relationships he built, the lives he touched, and the memories he leaves behind.
May his family and loved ones find strength and comfort during this incredibly painful time. May those who knew him continue to speak his name, share his memories, and hold close the moments they were fortunate enough to have with him.
Rest in peace, Eddie Lopez Jr.
Your life mattered.
Your memory will remain.
And you will not be forgotten.
