A tragic crash in Scioto County, Ohio, has claimed the life of 34-year-old Robert C. Spencer of West Portsmouth and left another person injured.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred Friday afternoon at approximately 2:18 p.m. on Galena Pike near Washington Boulevard in Washington Township. The collision resulted in serious injuries to Spencer. Despite efforts at the scene, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the crash site.

A passenger who was traveling in the SUV also sustained injuries in the collision. The passenger was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center for treatment. Authorities described those injuries as non-life-threatening.

The highway patrol reported that no seatbelts were in use at the time of the crash. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision, including what may have caused the SUV to leave the roadway.

Several emergency agencies responded to the scene, including the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Township Fire Department and Portsmouth Ambulance. Their response reflects the coordinated efforts of first responders who worked at the scene following the devastating collision.

For Robert C. Spencer’s family, friends and members of the West Portsmouth community, the crash has brought an unimaginable loss. At just 34 years old, Spencer’s life ended suddenly, leaving behind memories that will remain with those who knew and loved him.
