BODY OF 18-YEAR-OLD RECOVERED AFTER TUBING INCIDENT ON BOGUE CHITTO RIVER
COVINGTON — The body of an 18-year-old St. Tammany Parish resident has been recovered after a tubing incident on the Bogue Chitto River, according to the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The victim, identified as Jonis Warren, went missing after going under the water and not resurfacing while tubing on the river.
Deputies said the call came in around 1:44 p.m. reporting that a person had gone under the water and failed to return to the surface. Emergency crews immediately responded to the scene.
The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office later confirmed that Warren’s body was recovered. Deputies were assisted in the search by volunteers from the District Six Fire Department, EMTs from Northshore Ambulance, and a diver equipped with sonar technology.
Officials said all available resources were used during the recovery effort as crews worked along the river to locate the missing teen.
Authorities have not released additional details at this time.
