A Life Remembered Following a Tragic Motorcycle Crash

It is with deep sadness that we remember Kelli Jo Gauthier, 52, of Avon, whose life was tragically lost following a motorcycle crash in Munson Township on August 16, 2026.

According to authorities, the Cold Spring-Richmond Police Department was contacted at approximately 5:20 p.m. after family members became concerned about Gauthier, who had been riding her motorcycle with a group of other riders earlier that day. At some point during the ride, Gauthier left the group with plans to return to her residence north of the city of Avon.

When she did not arrive home as expected, her family became increasingly worried. After approximately two hours of searching the surrounding area, family members contacted law enforcement and reported her overdue.

Gauthier was reportedly riding a 2008 Harley-Davidson XL1200.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., a Cold Spring-Richmond officer located Gauthier and her motorcycle after discovering that she had crashed in a ditch along County Road 9 in Munson Township, approximately one to two miles north of the city of Richmond. The crash occurred near a sweeping left-hand curve in the 25500 block of County Road 9.

Emergency responders immediately worked at the scene, and lifesaving measures were attempted. Despite those efforts, Gauthier could not be saved. Paramedics ultimately pronounced her deceased at the scene.

Authorities have indicated that alcohol is not suspected to have been a contributing factor in the crash. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

The response involved several agencies and emergency organizations, including the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Cold Spring-Richmond Police Department, Paynesville Police Department, Chain of Lakes Fire Department, and Mayo Clinic Ambulance.

While the details of the crash provide an account of what happened, they cannot fully express the loss felt by those who knew Kelli Jo Gauthier. A life that had included family, friendships, memories, and everyday moments was suddenly and unexpectedly taken.
