In Loving Memory of Alvin Dennis
A Georgetown community is mourning the loss of Alvin Dennis, who died Sunday evening following a motorcycle accident on South Island Road.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 5:45 p.m. on South Island Road near George Washington Trail. Dennis, a Georgetown resident, was operating a motorcycle southbound along the roadway when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the motorcycle ran off the right side of the road and entered a ditch.
The crash resulted in fatal injuries to Dennis. Georgetown County Coroner Chase Ridgeway identified him as the person who lost his life in the accident.
A passenger was also traveling on the motorcycle at the time of the crash. The passenger was injured and transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have not released the passenger’s current condition, and further information about the extent of those injuries was not immediately available.
The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation. Investigators are working to determine what caused the motorcycle to leave the roadway and whether any additional factors contributed to the crash.
