With heavy hearts, we remember Danielle Smith, 28, of Dayton, Virginia, whose life was tragically cut short following a devastating two-vehicle crash on Coopers Mountain Road in Rockingham County on the morning of Friday, August 28, 2026.

Danielle’s passing has left behind a profound sense of grief for those who knew and loved her. At just 28 years old, she had so much more life ahead of her, so many moments still waiting to be lived, and so many memories yet to be made. According to Virginia State Police, the crash happened at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Coopers Mountain Road. Danielle was driving a 2006 Jeep Liberty northbound when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the vehicle crossed the center of the roadway and collided with a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling southbound.

Danielle suffered serious injuries in the collision. Despite efforts to save her life, she later died at a hospital. Her death has brought unimaginable sorrow to her family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched.
