FORREST CITY, Ark. — The Forrest City community is mourning the loss of 28-year-old Keirra Calvin, a Forrest City woman who was killed in a fatal hit-and-run crash during the early morning hours of Friday, August 21, 2026.

According to the Forrest City Police Department, Calvin was walking along Newcastle Road shortly after midnight when she was struck by a pickup truck. The collision left her critically injured, and she was transported to Forrest City Medical Center for emergency medical treatment. Despite efforts to save her, Calvin was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Her death has left family members, friends, and members of the community grieving the sudden loss of a young woman whose life was tragically cut short.

A Tragic Early-Morning Collision

Police said the crash occurred shortly after midnight as Calvin was walking along Newcastle Road. Investigators determined that she had been struck by a pickup truck, but the driver did not immediately remain at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the collision prompted an investigation by Forrest City authorities, who worked to determine the vehicle involved and identify the person behind the wheel.

As investigators followed the available evidence, they were able to locate a vehicle believed to have been involved in the crash with the assistance of an OnStar alert system. The technology helped officers track the vehicle to a residence on Tennessee Street.

Officers went to the home and made contact with 28-year-old Isacc Sanders, who police identified as the person believed to have been driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Driver Told Police He Thought He Hit a Deer

According to investigators, Sanders told police that he had been traveling along Newcastle Road toward Arkansas Street when he struck something in the roadway.

Sanders reportedly said he believed the object he struck was a deer.

Police, however, determined that the collision involved Calvin, who was walking along the roadway at the time. The investigation ultimately led to Sanders being taken into custody.

He was transported to the county jail and booked on a charge of negligent homicide. Sanders was later released after posting a $100,000 bond.

The case remains a matter for the legal system, and the investigation and court proceedings will determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
