In Loving Memory of Kyle Alan Kubiak

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A tragic hit-and-run collision in south Charlotte has claimed the life of 34-year-old Kyle Alan Kubiak, leaving family, friends, and the community mourning a life lost far too soon.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the fatal crash occurred Wednesday night on East Woodlawn Road. Officers were called to the area at approximately 8:37 p.m. following reports of a pedestrian being struck.

When emergency responders arrived, they found Kubiak at the scene suffering from injuries sustained in the collision. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police said a 22-year-old driver, Jared Isai Rodriguez, allegedly struck Kubiak and then fled the scene rather than remaining to assist or wait for authorities. Investigators say Rodriguez was later involved in a second crash nearby, after which he was arrested.

Rodriguez now faces multiple felony charges in connection with the incident. The investigation remains ongoing, as authorities work to establish the complete circumstances surrounding the initial collision, the subsequent crash, and the events leading up to Kubiak’s death.
