In Loving Memory of a Longview Man Killed in a Domestic Violence Shooting
LONGVIEW, Washington — August 22, 2026 — With heavy hearts, a Longview community is mourning the loss of a man who was found fatally wounded inside a home at the Del Ray II mobile home park Friday night.
According to the Longview Police Department, officers were called to the 5600 Mount Solo Road area at approximately 9:58 p.m. on Friday, August 21, for a reported domestic violence incident. What initially appeared to be a domestic disturbance quickly became a homicide investigation when police received information that someone had been shot.
Officers entered the residence and discovered a man who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the response of emergency personnel, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident was especially heartbreaking because several children were present at the location when officers arrived. Police said the children were removed from the scene and later reunited with their families. Fortunately, authorities reported that the children were physically unharmed.
Investigators said the suspected shooter had fled the area on foot shortly before police arrived, prompting an extensive multi-agency search. Officers from the Longview Police Department were joined by deputies from the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Kelso Police Department, and personnel from the Washington State Patrol.
Washington State Patrol detectives, officers, and crime laboratory technicians remained at the scene through the night as investigators worked to document the evidence and reconstruct what happened.
Police later identified the suspect as Josiah Karr, 24, of Longview. Authorities said Karr initially escaped on foot but was located and taken into custody several hours later following the coordinated manhunt.
Karr was booked into jail on suspicion of second-degree murder with a domestic-violence designation.
The investigation remains active, and authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting or publicly identified the victim in the information provided.
For the victim’s family, friends, and loved ones, the loss represents a devastating and painful moment. A life was suddenly taken, leaving behind people who must now face the difficult days of grief and remembrance.
