In Loving Memory of Antoine Stowers
- Remembering a Young Life Lost Too Soon
With profound sadness, we remember Antoine Stowers, 19, of Indianapolis, whose life was tragically cut short following a single-vehicle crash in Hancock County, Indiana, on August 19, 2026.
According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called at approximately 2:40 p.m. to the intersection of County Roads 600 North and 350 West, an area northeast of Indianapolis Regional Airport, after receiving a report of a serious crash involving a vehicle that may have overturned and caught fire.
When deputies arrived, they discovered a severely damaged 2001 Ford Crown Victoria that had been occupied by a single person. Antoine was trapped inside the vehicle, and the first deputies on scene were unable to get a response from him. Tragically, there were no signs of life.
The Hancock County Fatal Accident Crash Team (F.A.C.T.) was requested to conduct the investigation as emergency crews worked carefully at the scene. Firefighters and EMS personnel took great care while extricating Antoine from the wreckage.
Antoine was pronounced deceased at the scene.
- A Tragic Crash
Investigators determined from evidence at the scene that the Ford Crown Victoria had been traveling westbound on County Road 600 North before leaving the roadway and striking a large tree. Preliminary evidence indicated that the vehicle may have been traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash.
Authorities reported that Antoine was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. At this stage of the investigation, drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been contributing factors.
While investigators continue working to establish the complete circumstances surrounding the crash, the loss of a 19-year-old life has left family, friends, and loved ones facing an unimaginable heartbreak.
Antoine’s family was notified of his death after deputies confirmed his identity. Behind the official investigation is a grieving family now forced to confront the reality of losing someone far too young, someone whose future still held so many possibilities.
The roadway remained closed for approximately three hours as members of the Fatal Accident Crash Team carefully documented the scene, gathered evidence, and worked to understand what happened.
- A Life to Remember
A life is measured not only by the number of years someone is given, but also by the memories, relationships, and moments they leave behind. At just 19 years old, Antoine Stowers had so much of life still ahead of him.
His passing is a painful reminder of how quickly circumstances can change and how deeply the loss of a young person can affect an entire family and community. Although the circumstances of his death are being investigated, Antoine should ultimately be remembered for the life he lived—not simply for the tragedy that ended it.
Our thoughts are with Antoine’s family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved him during this difficult time. May they find strength in the memories they shared with him and comfort in knowing that his life mattered.
We also extend our appreciation to the deputies, firefighters, EMS personnel, investigators, dispatchers, and other responders who worked carefully and compassionately at the scene.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office investigation remains ongoing, and additional information may be released as investigators complete their work.
Rest peacefully, Antoine Stowers.
May your memory live on in the hearts of those who knew you, may your family find comfort in the love surrounding them, and may the memories of your 19 years continue to be cherished.
Gone far too soon, but never forgotten.
