In Loving Memory of Austin Knutson

With profound sadness, we remember Austin Knutson, 30, of Rice Lake, whose life was tragically cut short following a serious crash in Washburn County on Wednesday morning.

The fatal collision occurred on Highway 63 at County Road J near Shell Lake, where authorities responded to a devastating scene involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck. According to preliminary information, the semi was stopped on Highway 63 as it prepared to turn onto County Road J. For reasons that remain under investigation, a car driven by Knutson crashed into the rear of the stopped semi.

The impact left Knutson trapped inside his vehicle. Emergency responders worked at the scene to extricate him from the damaged car. Despite their efforts, Knutson was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death has left family, friends, and members of the Rice Lake community facing an unimaginable loss. At just 30 years old, Austin’s life held so much promise, and his passing serves as a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly circumstances can change.
