In Loving Memory of Pascual Baltazar-Pascual
A Life Remembered Following a Tragic Bartholomew County Crash
On August 20, 2026, a devastating two-vehicle collision in southern Bartholomew County, Indiana, claimed the life of Pascual Baltazar-Pascual, 42, of Seymour, Indiana. His passing has left family, friends, and members of the community mourning a life taken far too soon.
The Indiana State Police reported that the fatal crash occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. on State Road 11 near County Road 800 South. Troopers from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post, along with other emergency responders, were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a serious two-vehicle collision.
According to the preliminary investigation conducted by Master Trooper Korry Clark, a 2009 Pontiac G6 traveling northbound on State Road 11 crossed the centerline and entered the path of a southbound 2020 Hyundai Sonata. The Hyundai was being driven by 18-year-old Aparicio Martin-Bartolome of Seymour.
The two vehicles collided nearly head-on in the southbound lane. The force of the crash caused both vehicles to leave the roadway before coming to rest.
Several people were injured in the collision and required emergency medical attention. The 17-year-old Columbus girl driving the Pontiac was transported to an Indianapolis-area hospital with serious injuries. Martin-Bartolome was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment, while a 15-year-old juvenile passenger who had been riding in the rear seat of the Hyundai was also taken to an Indianapolis-area hospital.
Amid the chaos and emergency response, however, there was heartbreaking news.
Pascual Baltazar-Pascual, who was seated in the front passenger seat of the Hyundai, sustained fatal injuries. Despite the efforts at the scene, he could not be saved. The Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office pronounced him deceased at the crash site.
For those who knew Pascual, the news of his death represents an unimaginable loss. At 42 years old, his life was still filled with possibilities, relationships, memories, and moments that mattered to the people around him. His sudden passing serves as a painful reminder of how quickly an ordinary morning can become a moment of profound heartbreak.
Pascual was from Seymour, Indiana, and his family has been notified of his death. As they face the difficult days ahead, they must now begin the process of grieving someone whose presence can never be replaced.
There are no easy words for a family confronted with such sudden loss. A loved one who was there one moment can be gone the next, leaving behind memories that become even more precious with time. The sorrow that follows a sudden tragedy often reaches far beyond the immediate family, touching friends, neighbors, coworkers, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing the person who was lost.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision remains ongoing. Master Trooper Korry Clark and members of the Indiana State Police-Crash Reconstruction Team are continuing to examine the evidence and circumstances surrounding the crash. Toxicology results are also pending, and authorities have not announced any final conclusions regarding the cause of the collision.
The investigation was assisted by the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, Columbus Regional Hospital EMS, Columbus Fire Department, Columbus Township Fire and Rescue, and the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office. The coordinated response of these emergency personnel reflects the efforts made to care for those involved and preserve the scene for investigators.
While official investigators continue their work, Pascual’s family is left to confront the most difficult part of this tragedy: learning how to move forward without someone they loved.
His memory will now live through the stories shared by those who knew him, the moments spent together, and the lasting impact he had on the people around him. Every life leaves behind a collection of memories, and those memories can provide comfort during the darkest days of grief.
Today, we remember Pascual Baltazar-Pascual, not simply as a victim of a tragic roadway collision, but as a person whose life mattered and whose absence will be deeply felt.
May his family and loved ones find strength and comfort as they mourn his passing. May they be surrounded by compassion and support during this difficult time, and may the memories they hold close remain a source of peace in the days and years ahead.
In loving memory of Pascual Baltazar-Pascual, age 42.
