In Loving Memory of Paulette Vitto

With heavy hearts, we remember Paulette Vitto, a 75-year-old woman from New Iberia, Louisiana, whose life was tragically taken following a crash on South College Road in Lafayette on Saturday afternoon, August 29, 2026.

According to the Lafayette Police Department, Paulette was traveling northbound on South College Road when, for reasons still unknown, her vehicle struck a curb. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Responding officers found Paulette unresponsive and immediately began CPR. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was sadly pronounced deceased. A passenger in the vehicle was also hospitalized with serious injuries and was reported to be in stable condition. Investigators said impairment was not believed to be a factor in the crash.

While the circumstances of her passing are heartbreaking, Paulette’s life will be remembered for far more than the tragedy that ended it. She was a loved one, a friend, and a cherished member of the New Iberia community.
