According to information available from radio transmissions and accounts provided by witnesses at the time, an Andover police officer observed the Acura traveling at a dangerous speed and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

The vehicle continued onward, and the officer was reportedly unable to stop it. The officer did not continue in pursuit, while information about the speeding vehicle was communicated to authorities as it proceeded into North Reading.

Officers entered the residence and discovered a man who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the response of emergency personnel, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident was especially heartbreaking because several children were present at the location when officers arrived. Police said the children were removed from the scene and later reunited with their families. Fortunately, authorities reported that the children were physically unharmed.
